Free Materials Program

Using up a product for its intended use, or giving the material to someone who can, is the best practice for any household product, and the principle behind the City's Material Reuse Program. This program takes useable household products collected at the City's monthly Household Hazardous Waste Collection events and makes them available to the public free of charge, saving the City disposal costs and residents the cost of new product.


Schedule - The Material Reuse Program operates alongside the City's monthly Household Hazardous Waste Collection events at the City Municipal Service Center - 1993 Rancho Conejo Blvd. in Newbury Park. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The 2011 schedule is as follows:

Adhesives, Glue, Putty and Caulk

Disclaimer - Availability and quality of materials vary from date to date. Materials are distributed as-is with no quality guarantee. The City of Thousand Oaks is not responsible for the transportation of reuse/hazardous materials from the event. Ensure that you have sturdy and spill-free containers to safely transport the materials in your vehicle. Limit 20 items per resident per event.

Donations - All donations of household products for reuse are taken through the City's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events. Appointments are required. Click here for information about the City's Hazardous Waste Collection program and to schedule an appointment.
